A mental health problem should not be looked at as a negative for a person, but as a challenge that can be overcome through the help of God. Too often the church has stood by and given unhelpful advice to those suffering with a mental health challenge.
A Gospel Approach to Mental Health gives readers a verse-by-verse look at how God works to help those with mental health challenges. Through specific stories in the Gospels, readers will understand that traditional advice given by Christians is not always the best. Readers will also learn that Jesus was tested mentally, that Jesus was willing to heal all ailments, that God makes promises to all believers regardless of mental health, and that God has expectations for all followers regardless of mental health.
Mental health challenges are not punishments from God, but opportunities to further glorify God.
