Transported to a dying world of ancient cities, fierce warriors, and endless conflict, one man becomes a legend on Mars.
In A Princess of Mars by Edgar Rice Burroughs, former Confederate soldier John Carter mysteriously finds himself carried from Earth to the planet Mars-known to its inhabitants as Barsoom. In the lower gravity and unfamiliar environment of this strange world, Carter discovers that he possesses extraordinary strength and agility, abilities that quickly draw him into the struggles of the planet's warring peoples.
Captured by the towering Green Martians, Carter is introduced to a civilization shaped by ancient rivalries, decaying cities, and constant warfare. His fate changes when he meets Dejah Thoris, princess of the city-state of Helium, whose intelligence, courage, and beauty inspire his loyalty and devotion.
As rival kingdoms clash and danger surrounds them on every side, Carter becomes entangled in battles, political intrigue, daring escapes, and desperate attempts to save Barsoom from destruction. What begins as survival on an alien world grows into a larger struggle involving honour, friendship, and the hope of restoring peace to a dying planet.
Blending science fiction, fantasy, romance, and adventure, A Princess of Mars launched one of the most influential planetary adventure series ever written and remains a landmark work of imaginative fiction.
