Generally, sources for power generation are broken down into two categories: thermal and non-thermal. This book examines non-thermal sources of power generation and emphasizes recent advances in distributed power generation systems.
Author Biography
Yatish T. Shah received his BSc in chemical engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and MS and ScD in chemical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge (USA). He has more than 40 years of academic and industrial experience in energy-related areas. He was chairman of the Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Drexel University, Philadelphia; chief research officer at Clemson University, South Carolina; and provost at Missouri University of Science and Technology, Rolla, the University of Central Missouri, Warrensburg, and Norfolk State University, Virginia. He was also a visiting scholar at the University of Cambridge (UK) and a visiting professor at the University of California, Berkley, and Institut fur Technische Chemie der Universitat Erlangen, Nurnberg, Germany. He has previously written 13 books related to energy, most of which are under the Sustainable Energy Strategies book series (by Taylor & Francis), of which he is the editor. He has also published more than 250 refereed reviews, book chapters, and research technical publications in the areas of energy, environment, and reaction engineering. He is an active consultant to numerous industries and government organizations in energy areas.
