AI changed the speed of product development. It did not change the speed of research.
Design generates options in hours. Engineering ships in days. Decisions that used to wait a sprint now happen in an afternoon. The downstream effect is brutal: by the time a traditional study lands, the team has moved on and the decision is already made. Research keeps getting bypassed, not because the work is bad, but because the operating model was built for a tempo that no longer exists.
AI-Powered UX Research is about rebuilding that model, not speeding up the old one.
The book does three things.
It introduces a new way to run research. Micro research answers narrow questions in 24 to 72 hours. Sprint research delivers depth in one to two weeks. Deep (foundational) research builds the base that everything else depends on. Two of these modes, micro and sprint, are only possible because AI-moderated data collection lets you run studies with real participants at a speed manual moderation never could. Tying the three together is the routing logic for matching every question to the right mode, based on risk, ambiguity, and how fast the answer expires.
It shows you how to make research knowledge compound instead of evaporate. Most organizations have an archive of past studies but no shared picture of what they currently know. The book introduces the Frame, the living, actively maintained understanding of your users: what the organization currently believes, how confident it is, and where the gaps are. Without it, fast research produces precise answers to questions that may not matter.
It gives you the governance to hold it all together. How to handle demand when everything is urgent. How to maintain quality when multiple people are running studies. How to protect slow foundational work under relentless delivery pressure. And how to move research from a service that responds to requests to an intelligence function that shapes decisions before they are made.
Whether you are a solo researcher covering an impossible surface area, a leader building a function that scales, or a PM or designer who depends on research to make better calls, you will come away with a repeatable system rather than a pile of tactics.
Drawing on fourteen years of research practice across global platforms and games played by hundreds of millions, this is the operational blueprint for research functions that want to stay essential as everything around them accelerates.
The speed is not the point. Being useful at the speed the work demands is the point.
