It's not your money. It never was.
Bob Bertelsen was five years old when he first heard the story of the servants and the bags of gold - and he spent the next sixty years learning what it actually meant. A third-generation business owner, Bob built A Plus Powder Coaters, Inc. from the ground up, survived a fire that reduced his factory to ashes, and nearly lost everything before God showed him the one shift in perspective that changed everything: he wasn't the owner of his business. He was the steward of it.
Ain't Your Money! is Bob's raw, practical, and deeply biblical guide to that shift - and to the freedom, peace, and increase that follow it. Drawing on Matthew 25's Parable of the Bags of Gold, thirty-plus years running a manufacturing company, and hard-won lessons from real financial crisis, Bob lays out a clear framework for moving from anxious ownership to confident stewardship:
- Three Mindsets - Owner, Provider, Steward: the internal shift that has to happen before anything external changes
- Three Actions - Faith, Work, Increase: what a good steward actually does with what's entrusted to them
- Three Characteristics - Integrity, Trustworthiness, Generosity: the fruit that marks a life aligned with God's economy
- Real Applications - practical, no-nonsense tools including the Rule of 72, vision and timeline planning, and Bob's personal "Decree of Ownership" that he still prays over his home, business, and finances today
This isn't theory from a pulpit. It's a manual written by a man who has mortgaged his house to start a business in faith, watched his factory burn while his pregnant wife looked on, walked through years of losing money, and came out the other side debt-free, growing, and finally at peace - because he stopped trying to own what was never his and started stewarding what was.
This book is for you if:
- You're a Christian entrepreneur or business owner who feels the weight of "it's all on me"
- You've quoted Scripture about money for years but still feel confused or anxious about it
- You sense God has called you to make wealth - but you're not sure what to do with that calling
- You want practical, biblical steps for faith, work, and increase - not vague platitudes
- You're ready to move from survival, to stability, to generosity, to becoming what Bob calls a "Financier of the Kingdom"
What you'll walk away with: A renewed mindset about what money actually is, a framework you can apply this week in your business or household, and - if you're willing to do what Bob did - a permanent shift from the stress of ownership to the freedom of stewardship.
