ALL EYES CLOSED AIN'T SLEEP
My Story. My Truth. My Transformation.
"There are stories that whisper through the cracks of history, and then there are stories that rise from the silence and shake everything around them."
All Eyes Closed Ain't Sleep is more than a memoir. It is a testimony of pain, perseverance, purpose, survival, faith, and a truth that refused to stay buried.
After the tragic murder of her mother, Anita Rene Shells, Erika Elizabeth Brown-Killian was left with questions the world never answered. What began as a daughter's search for truth became a deeply personal journey through childhood trauma, family wounds, silence, incarceration, heartbreak, motherhood, survival, resilience, healing, and the pursuit of justice.
This is the unfiltered journey of a woman who refused to stay down even when life repeatedly gave her reasons to.
But this book isn't only about what happened to Erika.
It is also about what may have happened to you.
It is for the person carrying childhood wounds into adulthood. The person who has suffered in silence, questioned their worth, lost themselves while trying to survive, or wondered whether their past would determine their future.
It is for those who have experienced imprisonment whether behind physical walls or imprisoned by trauma, shame, fear, grief, anger, or the circumstances of their past.
"Across 254 powerful pages" of deeply personal storytelling, prayers, motivational words, encouragement, hard-earned lessons, and moments of faith, Erika transforms pain into purpose while holding tightly to her identity, motherhood, healing, and determination to find the truth.
These pages don't simply ask you to witness her life.
They challenge you to see yourself.
To confront what hurt you.
To recognize what you survived.
To understand that where you've been does not have to determine where you're going.
And to believe that even the most painful chapters can still produce purpose.
Erika's prayer is simple: May this book go places her feet will never go, reach people her hands may never touch, and speak to someone who thought nobody could understand their story.
Because some voices cannot be silenced.
Some truths refuse to stay buried.
And some stories were never meant to remain hidden.
This is my story. My truth. My transformation.
And somewhere within these pages, you may recognize your own.
