Wilkie, distinguished professor of anthropology at the University of California, Berkeley, is the author of Unburied Lives: The Historical Archaeology of Buffalo Soldiers at Fort Davis, Texas, 1869-1875. Katherine M. Kinkopf is assistant professor of anthropology at North Carolina State University.
