The dead don't lie. But the wounds tell an impossible story.
Three men are found slaughtered along a remote hiking trail near Banff, their bodies torn apart with savage, inhuman force. One is draped over a tree branch twenty feet above the ground. A fourth man, barely alive, is discovered with a single wound that defies explanation. FBI Special Agent Josh Cummings is ordered to stay on the case, but the forensic evidence refuses to cooperate. No bear prints. No wolf tracks. Just a single barefoot human impression in the mud, and claw marks on a dead man's throat that suggest something with an opposable grip, something that shouldn't exist.
As the official narrative pushes toward a rogue grizzly, Josh cannot silence the questions multiplying in his mind. The wounds are too precise. The violence is too calculated. And the sole survivor, unconscious and unreachable, may hold answers that stretch far beyond a wildlife attack. When the investigation collides with forces hidden alongside humanity for centuries, Josh finds himself at the threshold of a world where vampires are not undead legends but flesh and blood creatures, alien and ancient, now stepping out of the shadows for reasons of their own.
In Anatomy of a Vampire: Present Day, the line between science and myth dissolves. Two rival vampire houses are poised on the edge of war, and humanity is caught between them. The truth about what happened on that trail is only the beginning. What comes next will change everything.
