Hide-and-seek is a favored and foundational game of childhood. A toddler who outgrows "peekaboo" soon discovers the joy of hiding (often in plain sight) and causing others to playfully search for them. Once this concept is grasped, children can apply it to countless forms--such as searching for hidden images in books. This illustrated nonfiction board book combines such playfulness with an introduction to camouflage in nature, featuring six examples of animals known for blending in with their surroundings and encouraging young readers and listeners to demonstrate their own ability to hide as well.Kate Riggs is a Minnesota-based editor and author of children's and young adult nonfiction books. In 2012, her book Dolphins was honored as the winner of the Maryland Blue Crab Young Reader Award for Transitional Nonfiction.Anne Yvonne Gilbert has designed and illustrated children's books, postage stamps, record sleeves, and posters, infusing her work with a photorealistic sensibility especially befitting the subject matter of the natural world. After many years spent in Canada, she and her husband make their home in northern England.
