Hank Worth is running for election in order to keep his job as sheriff of Branson, Missouri. Campaigning is an awkward agony, so to avoid it, he takes on a minor theft case. A local landowner has had valuable medicinal plants stolen, and Hank gladly exchanges political events for an investigation located in the beautiful Ozark outdoors. He finds a group of undocumented immigrants harvesting the plants and then a murder victim hidden on land that's part of a property fight/generations-old feud. Now he must shield the immigrants from discovery and catch a killer before Election Day. His job-and his life-depend on it. In Another Man's Ground, her second Hank Worth mystery, Claire Booth delivers another cunningly crafted tale of emotional depth and chilling suspense. "An original and deftly crafted novel by a true master of the genre ... very highly recommended." - Midwest Book Review "The second in Booth's regional crime series is both an excellent police procedural and a surprisingly humorous look at politics and family feuds." - Kirkus Reviews "(An) appealing sequel . . . Booth's affectionate treatment of the decent and shrewd people of Branson and Worth makes this a series worth following." - Publishers Weekly
