This book is about YOU! Like most young people, you want to work hard, innovate, and win at life but you are a little unsure about how to get going. Maybe you are a little nervous about turning in the wrong direction. The solution. Be a Freaking Shark! In this book, we will provide a useful guide to students and young professionals on how they use the shark philosophy to win at school, internships, and life.
I would like to say it is easy. The reality is that it isn't. National college completion rates are a lot lower than you would think. And obstacles to success pop up all over the place. Following the tau of the shark can lead you to success. The secret sauce to success can be found in these pages. Matthew Wright, Ph.D. is the chair of the physics department at Adelphi University. Prof. Wright has created and given the "Be a Shark" workshop at conferences and universities throughout the US and has a long history of helping students channel their inner shark. At Adelphi University, he enthusiastically teaches physics, explores quantum mechanics with laser-cooled atoms, and develops programs to help encourage students into and through physics in Higher Education. He has created the Cosmic Pathways conference which gives students a chance to explore the litany of physics careers available to hard-working students.
