When she was ten years old, Catherine Hand read the novel A Wrinkle in Time and vowed that someday she would make a movie based on this thrilling tale. As Catherine recounts in her memoir Becoming a Warrior, her journey would include working alongside the television luminary Norman Lear in the creation of the nonprofit People For the American Way, and a 25 year-long conversation with author Madeleine L'Engle about her book. The movie was directed by Ava DuVernay, written by Jennifer Lee and starred Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, Chris Pine, Gugu Mbatha Raw and Storm Reid. In the film adaptation, Meg doubts her abilities to find her missing father. Mrs Which, the oldest of the celestial beings, turns to her and says, "Be a Warrior! Can you?" Becoming a Warrior, is the triumphant story of how one woman finds the courage to overcome many forms of darkness and discovers that love isn't what you feel, it's what you do.
