She was a little girl who wanted to be loved by her family, but author Tohnyonah Jackson found that love in her family came with abuse, alcohol, drugs and frequent homes among family members. Tohnyonah endured being molested as a child, which led her to be adopted by a white family where further child abuse continued. However, despite the struggles, Tohnyonah believes God has a plan for her life and reveals how this plan has unfolded in her new autobiography, Bending But Not Breaking. At the age of fifteen, Tohnyonah found herself a single, teenage mother to her little girl, but remained determined to succeed. She went on to earn a GED, raise her two children and trust God in the trials, which included being admitted into two psych wards.
