Bessie Bump is not a happy little turtle. Her mum and dad are always fighting and shouting at each other.Then one day her parents decide they cannot live together anymore and they separate. After Bessie's dad moves out, her parents do not see or speak to each other anymore. They do not realize how sad this makes Bessie and how hurt she feels inside, since she can no longer spend time with both of her parents. Bessie starts having trouble at school. But luckily someone notices and tells Bessie's parents that something is wrong. Bessie's mum and dad then find a way to get along and focus on their daughter's needs rather than just their own. Now Bessie can be happy once again and free from pain. This little turtle's story reflects how many children feel after a divorce or separation rocks their world. Eventually the hurt inside becomes too much to handle, and many parts of a child's life can suffer. Bessie Bump Gets a New Family shows children they are not alone, and parents that problems can be worked out.
Author Amberley Meredith is a psychologist and an alternative therapies healer who has worked with children and their families for over a decade, helping them find positive solutions to their problems and difficulties.
