Imagine your journey through life as being on a boat. As you sail out to sea, you will come across buoys that have been placed so then you can stay on course by traveling between them; however, traveling off course can hold major consequences that can make it difficult to get back on track. Through personal experience, Deanna Dell has discovered that those who achieve the greatest happiness and rewards in life are those who keep their internal compass between the buoys. Dell grew up in a small town in Maryland to a family rich in nurturing and support. She was instilled with values that would drive her to study and join the medical field. The road was not easy and unexpected challenges and tragedies occurred along the way, yet she did not allow these to stop her. Instead, she held true to her values, followed her internal compass, and strengthened her resolve to follow her passions. Her memoir, Between The Buoys, reveals the success she found by following her compass. It led her to achieving her Bachelors in Nursing and Masters in Business Administration. It led her to a fifty-year career in the medical field working in a plethora of clinical areas. It led her to her childhood soulmate and, ultimately, to two sons and four grandchildren. It led to forming a business of developing forty-six new ambulatory surgical facilities for physician groups and health systems in all specialties and are still being developed to this day. Dell's story is one of inspiration, blessings, perseverance, and expresses how important it is to always have an internal compass guide you through life. Your values of integrity, respect for all, and commitment to excellence in everything you do will determine your actions, your circle of friends, and, ultimately, your chosen path in life.
