Theatre kid Billie Wright just wants to survive her first week at Baltimore Arts High School and step out of her perfect older sister's spotlight. But when her drama teacher sends her to study Shakespeare in the school library, Billie discovers an ancient, glowing book that unleashes a magical war.
Suddenly, Billie discovers that all of those old plays she thought were boring have come to life! Even crazier? She's been chosen as the new Keeper of the Quill, tasked with protecting a magical pen that can rewrite reality itself.
Now, she's being hunted by "The Tragic" - a terrifying army of doomed characters led by Lady Macbeth, who want the Quill to change their fates. With the help of her eccentric theatre teacher Mr. Weaver, her mysterious classmate Monty, and a powerful ghost named Ophelia, Billie must journey through the enchanted woods of A Midsummer Night's Dream to the bustling streets of New York City, to prove her worth and keep the Quill safe.
But when The Tragic captures her sister, the stakes turn more personal than she ever could've imagined. Can Billie prove she has the potential to wield the Quill before the curtain falls on a tragedy of her own?
