Private investigator mysteries don't usually come with palm trees, turquoise seas, and brutal kidnappings-but Ethan Cruickshank isn't your usual PI...
When four innocents are gunned down during a violent night raid in Cabo San Lucas, local police chief Valencia calls on a trusted friend-Ethan Cruickshank, the reluctant American detective still trying to leave the past behind. The target: the stunning young wife of a ruthless real estate mogul, snatched offshore by unknown assailants and vanished into the vast Baja wilderness.
What starts as a favor turns into a frantic manhunt as Ethan and Valencia chase a trail of riddles through a world where nothing is what it seems. From sun-drenched beaches to backwater desert outposts, they're joined by two sharp-edged American women whose shadowy pasts make them dangerous allies-and possibly more.
But as the case twists further from its clean-cut beginnings, Ethan is forced to ask himself: who really benefits from this abduction? And how many people have to die before the truth surfaces?
What you don't know really can kill you...
