Cee has not always lived the easiest life. She has experienced moments of fear, trauma, and loneliness in her past. Despite her current environment being one of love and safety, she still experiences triggers, big feelings, and emotions related to her past trauma and experiences.
Just like Cee, so many children have lived through adverse events and traumatic experiences. Research proves that trauma can impact brain development and have a lasting impact on a child's behaviors, executive functioning, and emotions. This book delicately addresses the impact of trauma in a way that validates feelings, provides connections, and opens the door for really important topics related to trauma, coping, and resilience. With Cee's help, children are taught various coping strategies that can be used when big feelings and dysregulation occur.
Written by an educator who specializes in Trauma-Informed Education, the book addresses key topics and strategies to support children, caregivers, and educators. Key features include:
- Specific coping strategies that are taught for children to add to their emotional regulation tool box.
- A Sensitive Approach to Storytelling that alludes to traumatic events and the impact of toxic stress without direct mention of specific events to protect children and allow for the story to be utilized in many different situations.
- Education and guidance is provided to inform educators and caregivers on the prevalence and impact of childhood trauma, as well as to explain the importance and provide suggestions for how to create trauma-informed educational spaces.
