Join children and their families from around the world as they celebrate religious festivals and special times of year.
- On the Scottish Shetland Islands, dress as a Viking and march through the streets to celebrate the festival of Up Helly Aa.
- In India, join the crowds celebrating the Hindu festival of Holi to sing, dance, and throw colored water and powdered paint at friends, family, and even strangers!
- Take part in a celebratory spring picnic under the beautiful cherry blossom in a Japanese park, or enjoy horse races, wrestling, and archery at the mid summer Naadam festival in Mongolia.
- And watch as Fulani cattle herders in Mali return home to their families after months away to be greeted with music, dancing, and feasting.
The book includes a world map that pinpoints where every story comes from. Filled with beautiful photographs, the book introduces readers to some unfamiliar celebrations, but also celebrates more familiar special times, such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, Eid al-Fitr, Chinese New Year, and the Day of the Dead.
