In this book, Francisco Villar reflects on the negative impact of digitalization not only on the neurodevelopment of our children and adolescents, but also on their social, emotional and relational development. The use of screens directly affects health and interferes with activities that help healthy growth. As a consequence, we have adolescents who are less empathetic, less reflective, with less control over their impulses, with little tolerance for frustration, desensitized to the violence and suffering of others, but also more likely to be victimized and to exercise violence against themselves. Hence, the objective of these pages is the protection of our minors, their development and their formation as people. How can we stop this constant interference in the healthy growth of our children? How to prevent screens from continuing to devour them? Protecting the present of infants and adolescents is the best way to guarantee a better future for everyone.
Author Biography
Francisco Villar es doctor en Psicología y psicólogo clínico especialista en suicidio en la infancia y la adolescencia. Como referente a nivel nacional de esta problemática, es promotor y actual coordinador del Programa de Atención a la Conducta Suicida del Menor en el Hospital Sant Joan de Déu de Barcelona. Es también profesor de la Universidad Abat Oliba, del máster de Neuropsiquiatría y Psicología del niño y del adolescente de la Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona y autor del libro Morir antes del suicidio: Prevención en la adolescencia.
