Literature has close relationships with the letter, in all senses of the word. This work brings out these relationships. We find that literary theory and fictional writing sometimes merge into each other, for example, in the work of Jarry, who dared to propose that "only the letter is literature".
Author Biography
Michel Arrive, an emeritus professor at Paris Ouest - Nanterre - La Defense University, has published La Grammaire d'aujourd'hui (Paris, 2010), books on Jarry and Saussure, and novels, including Les Remembrances du vieillard idiot (Paris, 1977). He focuses on the recent history of linguistics, interferences between language and the unconscious, and the relationships between linguistics and literature.
