During the Cristero War, a monk arrives in a mountain village in Michoacán with a strange jar. To the common eye inside there is only an ant farm, but for some special people it hides a treasure: dozens of gold coins capable of fulfilling any wish. The priest decides to give it to a shopkeeper under the instruction that he does the same with anyone who can see its contents. Some time later, the lucky man appears in the form of a humble muleteer, who soon recognizes the magical properties of gold and also its dangerous temptations.
At the beginning of the millennium, a Swedish scientist arrives in Oaxaca with his firstborn. In this land of contrasts and magic, the destiny of the son will be irremediably linked to that of an Ixcatecan girl of mysterious powers and dealings with the Virgin.
