When 13-year-old Maya Lane's mother suddenly dies on the night of her eighth-grade graduation, a voice whispers in her head to go by a new name - Destiny. Desperate to shake dark memories of her final days with her namesake mother, Destiny Lane is born. Along with the voice in Destiny's mind, she can't escape the feeling that she's constantly being watched.
The person who is most understanding of Destiny's inner turmoil is her older brother, Lucky. The two are each other's rocks through thick and thin. Following an uncharacteristic fight about a local legend centered around the disappearance of children, Lucky goes missing himself. Destiny Lane sets out to find him, only to get trapped on an endless street bearing her name.
After a terrifying encounter with a creature masked as her dead mother, Destiny gets help from a child named Little who looks remarkably like her younger self. When Destiny joins Little at her home, the girl's swarm of sisters doesn't just resemble Destiny - they are her. Dozens of Destinys of all ages inhabit the mysterious house. The oldest, wisest, and most beautiful of them is a woman the children call Miss Am. Miss Am offers Destiny a chance to erase her painful past and stay here forever. Will Destiny take the opportunity to start her life anew or will she find Lucky and use their memories to forge a brighter future?
