Growing up in the South can expose you to various concepts and situational experiences. Being a black man in the South is all the more experiential. Nicolas Johnson shares his experiences openly, from extended family relationships and having deeply defining public school experiences in Montgomery, Alabama, to earning a degree and experiencing college life at a Southern PWI. His life experiences are those he cherishes, but certainly wishes to share.
Aside from sharing details of his own life, Nicolas provides knowledge and research of America's response to Black men, and Black America as a whole throughout our nation's history and corresponding changes. Here he seeks to provide wisdom and understanding that young men and women alike will need in order to be equipped to take on this world. Nicolas spares nothing, and does not hold back in this groundbreaking book. This diary is indeed a treasure to behold.
