Weber-Pahl will be published in 2025. It documents their precise use of
forms and materials and their innovative approach to structural systems,
drawing on their award-winning buildings and projects: including the
spectacular subway station in Bochum, the delicate footbridge of the IBA
Emscher Park, the FIS World Cup ski jump in Willingen, and the bold
canopy of the bus terminal in Leverkusen. Through their numerous recent

practice has made a significant contribution to construction with
reduced CO2 footprints.

Sie dokumentiert den präzisen Einsatz von Formen und Materialien und den innovativen Umgang mit Tragstrukturen anhand von prämierten Bauten und Projekten: von der spektakulären U-Bahn-Station in Bochum, der filigranen Stegbrücke der IBA Emscher Park über die FIS-Weltcup-Skisprungschanze in Willingen bis hin zur kühnen Überdachung des Busbahnhofs in Leverkusen. Author Biography
Burkhard Pahl studied architecture at TH Darmstadt and ETH Zurich. From 1986 to 1990, he worked as a research assistant for Günter Behnisch. In 1990, he founded a joint practice with Monika Weber-Pahl. He has been a professor at the University of Leipzig since 1997, where he was the director of the Institute for the Fundamentals of Construction and Planning Management from 2005 to 2021. He has served as an expert reviewer and jury member and has been invited to give international lectures. Burkhard Pahl has been a shareholder in PWP Planungsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG since 2003 and a partner at pwpMAS Architekten since 2024; the office focuses on educational buildings, cultural monuments, transport infrastructure, and industrial construction.
Monika Weber-Pahl studied architecture at TH Darmstadt. After working as a freelance architect in Darmstadt, she founded a joint practice with Burkhard Pahl in 1990. Since 2003, she has been the managing director of PWP Planungsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG, overseeing general planning services and serving as an expert reviewer and competition juror across Germany. Since 2024, she has been a partner at pwpMAS Architekten; the office focuses on educational buildings, cultural monuments, transport infrastructure, and industrial construction.
