Roughly 57% of American adults now describe themselves as addicted to their phones, quietly surrendering their attention, their relationships, and their confidence to a scroll engineered to keep them reaching. Digital S.O.B.E.R. Method offers a clear, compassionate way back.
Author Massimo Rigotti built the S.O.B.E.R. Method to save his own life, turning years of hard-won recovery into a five-step framework that has since helped others reclaim themselves from compulsion. In this book he adapts that proven method to the addiction almost no one admits to: the device in your pocket. The approach treats phone addiction as what it genuinely is, a conquerable behavioral compulsion driven by the same neurological loops as any other, and meets it with structure rather than shame.
Each letter is a step the reader actually works. Stoic grounds you in the philosophy of Marcus Aurelius and the things within your control. Observe brings honest, data-backed awareness to your real device habits. Behavior redesigns your environment, routines, and triggers. Execute turns intention into measured daily practice. Restore repairs your relationship with yourself and the people your screen time has cost. Run as a continuous cycle, the method produces change that lasts.
Digital sobriety does not mean throwing your phone in a river. It means deciding, consciously, when and why you pick it up. Through journaling, behavior chain analysis, S.M.A.R.T. goal setting, and a personal vision that pulls you forward, readers learn to trade compulsive reaction for deliberate intention.
Grounded in current research and Stoic wisdom, and carried by Rigotti's unflinchingly personal story, this is a practical, humane guide for anyone who feels owned by the thing they own. Reclaim your attention. Find your Flavor of Confidence.
