Although Tia starts the day on a happy note, she notices that Dwight looks downright dejected. It turns out the voice inside his head keeps saying mean things to him, making him feel like he's not good enough. Without hesitation, Tia reminds Dwight of his strengths and then takes him to Tree to help him learn how to be kinder to himself. After Tree gives Dwight a mirror and encourages him to talk to himself as he would a friend, Dwight is able to reach into his heart and recognize all the things about himself that make him wonderful. Soon enough, his sadness is transformed into happiness, and his day is turned around!
It's human nature to be critical of yourself, but Dwight's Inner Voice teaches young readers how to quiet their fault-finding inner voice and treat themselves with kindness and love.
