A specialist in late 19th-century French painting, particularly Gauguin and the Nabis, she published a monograph on Vuillard in 1988 (Phaidon). In 1991-2 she curated the Vuillard exhibition for the South Bank Centre which was seen in Glasgow, Sheffield and Amsterdam and in 1994 co-curated \u003ci\u003eBonnard at le Bosquet\u003c\/i\u003e, London and Newcastle-upon-Tyne. In 2010-11 she was lead curator of \u003ci\u003eGauguin: Maker of Myth\u003c\/i\u003e at the Tate Modern, London, and at the National Gallery of Art, Washington. \u003cb\u003eDr Chris Stephens\u003c\/b\u003e has been Director of the Holburne Museum since 2017. Prior to that he worked at Tate for over 20 years, as Head of Displays, Tate Britain, for much of that time, and also as Head of Modern British Art. Exhibitions in London and St Ives included \u003ci\u003eBarbara Hepworth: Centenary \u003c\/i\u003e(2003), \u003ci\u003eFrancis Bacon\u003c\/i\u003e (2008), \u003ci\u003eHenry Moore\u003c\/i\u003e (2010), \u003ci\u003ePicasso and Modern British Art\u003c\/i\u003e (2012\u003ci\u003e), Barbara Hepworth: Sculpture for a Modern World\u003c\/i\u003e (2015) and \u003ci\u003eDavid Hockney\u003c\/i\u003e (2017).
