Hiro Arikawa saltó a la fama en Japón después de obtener el Premio de Novela Dengeki, un importante galardón literario otorgado por la editorial MediaWorks y que han ganado con anterioridad los autores más populares de la narrativa japonesa actual. Lumen ha editado Crónicas del gato viajero (2024, publicado originalmente como A cuerpo de gato en 2017), un verdadero éxito de ventas en su país, que se tradujo a treinta y tres idiomas y se llevó al cine, y ahora publica El gato que decía adiós (2024).
