Established in 1974, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is the US's primary laboratory for renewable energy and energy efficiency research and development. The NREL is a government-owned, contractor-operated facility; it is funded through the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). This project focuses on the development of electrical models for small (1-MW) distributed resources at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory's Distributed Energy Resources Test Facility.
