by Neil Levine (Author)
Frank Lloyd Wright helped redefine architecture through his exploration of space and his enduring belief in the " organic" ideal.
The three essays in this book examine how Wright transformed buildings from static enclosures into living spatial experiences that are fluid, multidimensional, and deeply human. Tracing his development from the vertical geometries of his early designs to the interpenetrating spaces of his mature work, author and Wright scholar Neil Levine reveals how Wright's concept of openness evolved as both an artistic and philosophical pursuit.
With more than 40 full-color and black-and-white photos and architectural drawings, Levine shows how Wright's idea of the " organic" grew from an aesthetic principle into a comprehensive worldview. Ultimately, Frank Lloyd Wright Encore demonstrates that Wright's lasting legacy lies in his conviction that architecture should grow naturally from its context and purpose, an integration of material, idea, and spirit that remains one of the most profound expressions of the modern imagination.
