Dr. Carolle Jean-Murat, MD, was born into a family of shamans in Haiti. As a child, she was kicked out of Catholic school when the administration found out that her grandfather was a famous voodoo healer. That bigotry made her physically sick, and no one could cure her-except her grandfather.
His healing expertise and calm strength inspired Carolle, but he told her that her path would be different from his: she would become a healer by attending medical school. And she did.
As she studied to be a doctor in Mexico, Jamaica, and the United States and then practiced as an obstetrician, gynecologist, and a primary care specialist in San Diego, Dr. Carolle never lost her sense of humor. Wherever she traveled, she recorded funny anecdotes in her journal to remind her of where she'd been, what she'd learned along the way, and the surprises that had given her a laugh.
Now, in Funny Bones, Dr. Carolle shares over forty years' worth of amusing and heartwarming true stories. With tales about first kisses, nipple piercing, and disco songs in the operating room, Dr. Carolle offers living proof that even people in serious professions can use humor to cope with the challenges life gives them.

Dr. Carolle Jean-Murat, MD, is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist, primary care specialist, intuitive and spiritual healer, motivational speaker, and writer. She was born into a family of shamans, herbalists, healers, and midwives in Haiti and was formally educated at renowned universities in Haiti, Jamaica, Mexico, and the United States. This broad base of knowledge enriched her practice and led her to focus on her patients' overall well-being.
Dr. Carolle ran a successful private practice in San Diego for over twenty years. She then opened the Dr. Carolle Wellness & Retreat Center of San Diego and a nonprofit charity, the Health through Communications Foundation. Throughout her career, she has focused on serving the underprivileged, including wounded warriors in the United States and the people of Haiti. She strives to empower her patients and guide them to become their best selves.
