This book offers an accessible introduction to game theory, covering both non-cooperative and cooperative games. It is particularly well-suited for students in mathematics, economics, engineering, and computer science. Throughout the text, carefully curated examples motivate and clarify new concepts and definitions.
Numerous concepts, definitions, theorems, and algorithms are illustrated using MATLAB programs, which serve as valuable teaching aids. These scripts enable students to generate additional examples based on their input, deepening their understanding and building confidence.
Mathematics-oriented students will find the theoretical aspects of game theory both intriguing and challenging, providing a solid foundation for applying these principles to real-world scenarios. This book strives to simplify the proofs of key theoretical results, requiring only a minimal level of mathematical maturity.
Key results include the Fundamental Theorem of Game Theory (Section 2.7), the Existence Theorem of Nash Equilibrium (Section 3.4), the Revelation Principle (Section 5.6), and Folk's Theorem (Section 6.8)."
