What does getting out gracefully mean to you?
Like other workers, you will one day leave your company behind. But as the one who has painstakingly built the organization, the effects of that departure on you and your family will be profound. And as your company's owner, your departure will also impact those you employ: your management team, rank-and-file employees, customers, even your vendors. Beyond retirement itself, consider the legacy you'll leave. Beyond the estate left to your family, you'll very likely want the success you've built to benefit others, even after you're gone.
Concerns and responsibilities like these can complicate the exit strategy of even the most careful and conscientious company owner or entrepreneur. Seeing them through successfully is what author Garrett Hurley calls the Getting Out Gracefully process. Getting out of your business gracefully is the requisite capstone to a life well lived, and he's written this book for leaders who share this belief.
In Getting Out Gracefully, you'll discover the essential steps of the system Hurley personally developed and implemented for coordinating the graceful, effective business--and personal--retirement transitions of countless company owners and entrepreneurs. Remember, if you don't begin with the end in mind, that end can look very different than you hoped.
