DK Ryland loves to draw animals and nature and enjoys writing books that make kids laugh. Before she started writing for kids, DK earned a film degree and spent time filming wildlife in South Africa. She also works as an online teacher and curriculum writer, composing curriculum-aligned teaching guides for picture books. When not writing and illustrating, you can find DK going on adventures with her husband and two kids, visiting the giraffes at the San Diego Safari Park, playing sports, or reading a book--while petting a cat or a dog.
