Meet Michelle, fondly known as Mom, and most dearly, Grandma. Her story is not just about living with Parkinson's disease, but it's about the journey she undertook from first discovering her illness to learning to live with it.
Prior to her diagnosis, Michelle thrived in her career in the medical profession, working as a phlebotomist. Her work, which involved drawing blood from patients for testing, brought her immense satisfaction as it enabled her to help others. However, a sudden onset of changes - uncontrollable shaking of her left hand, difficulty in walking, muscle stiffness, and constant fatigue - hinted at an underlying health issue.
Noticing these symptoms, Michelle consulted a neurologist, who, after several tests, diagnosed her with Parkinson's disease, a rare, incurable condition that affects mood and causes severe anxiety and sadness. Despite the daunting prognosis, Michelle remained undeterred.
The narrative explores Michelle's journey with Parkinson's, a progressive disease that impacts body and muscle movements. While her prescribed medication helps manage most of her symptoms and improves her mobility, it doesn't halt the disease's progression. But, Michelle's spirit remains unbroken. She finds joy in her role as a mother and grandmother, and she faces the unknown with courage and curiosity.
