It is one of the premier international publication venues in the field of German Studies, presenting original research in both German and English for scholars across the globe. Each volume of the yearbook comprises articles covering aspects of contemporary German-language literature from the 1990s onwards, a cluster of articles on an annual special topic reflecting current discourses in the discipline, and a book review section. Recent topics include "Disability Studies" (2022), "Gedächtnis-Autofiktion-Archive" (2023), and "Utopia-Dystopia-Climate Fiction" (2024). Contributions to the special topic are by invitation only while articles on any topic can be submitted for consideration year-round. Contributions are accepted in English or German and undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review prior to acceptance for publication. In light of transnational trends in contemporary German language literature, the international profile of Gegenwartsliteratur is the ideal forum for the academic study of this body of literature.

Internationaler Beirat/International Advisory Board

Sylvie Arlaud, Universitat Sorbonne (Frankreich)

Anne Fuchs, University of Dublin (Irland)

Eleni Georgopoulou, Aristoteles Universitat, Thessaloniki (Griechenland)

Eva Horn, Universitat Wien (Osterreich)

Brigitte Jirku, Universitat de Valencia (Spanien)

David Kim, University of California at Los Angeles (USA)

Priscilla Layne, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill (USA)

Tomasz Malyszek, Universitat Wroclaw (Polen)

Caroline Schaumann, Emory University (USA)

Carlos Spoerhase, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universitat Munchen (Deutschland)

Lynn Wolff, Michigan State University (USA)

Zhuang Wei, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou (China)

Author Biography

Friederike Eigler, Georgetown University, Washington DC .

Number of Pages: 287

Dimensions: 0.61 x 9.21 x 6.14 IN

Illustrated: Yes

Publication Date: October 01, 2025
