Much of the action is precipitated by those with lesser reputations. Bank vaults, stagecoach lock boxes and Wells Fargo safes were frequently easy prey for outlaw gangs. Their members sometimes spent much of their short lives fleeing from the law. Killing was often an act of survival. To a few it was a way of life. Conversely, there were able peace officers dedicated to bring them in. The text is complemented by many interesting photographs.
