Healing After a Suicide Loss: All Ages Workbook + Activity Guide is for families, friends, therapists, educators, and facilitators. The questions and activities herein are intended to guide loss survivors as they navigate their bereavement. Therapists and facilitators can use this workbook/activity guide for individual clients or in group settings. The "Helpful Resources" section includes a guide for friends about what to say and what not to say; "Safe Messaging" offers guidelines for sharing about suicide on social media or in local communities; "Helpful Organizations" directs readers to hotlines and information about suicide and loss; and "Warning Signs of Suicide" lists behaviors to watch out for.
Author Biography
Rebecca Anderson, LPN, LCSW, is a mother, medical professional, educator, and speaker, with a BS in public health/sociology. She is the author of Parenting the Suicide Survivors' Club and founder of Suicide Survivors' Club, LLC. Anderson has worked as a nurse in maternal/child healthcare and as a medical social worker. After losing her husband to suicide, she and her children embarked on a healing art/narrative journey that resulted in the creation of this activity guide.
Laurie Phillips, artist, healer, author, speaker, and co-founder of Suicide Survivors' Club, LLC, has worked as a public artist since 1992. She has served as a stress relief coach in hospitals and other organizations and is the co-founder of Museum Sage, an experience that combines life coaching and art appreciation. Phillips and Rebecca Anderson have co-presented on using art and narrative to heal from traumatic experiences at Mayo Clinic, NAMI Minnesota, American Association of Suicidology, Macalester College, and children's hospitals.
