After surviving a storm at sea, Stone Richards is a cast-away on a volcanic island when a galactic event exposes him to a spectacular electromagnetic storm. Radioactive dust particles shower over Stone, eventually causing the synapses in his brain to break apart then rewire; in doing so, all the natural filters are destroyed that normally prevent humans from realizing their fullest potential. Now, a new ability allows Stone to "Phase Walk" through space and time. While still learning about this new gift, Stone is compelled to help a friend's father who was kidnapped in Palermo by the mafia. Taking advantage of the crooks ignorance and superstitions, Stone revives the legend of I Beati Paoli with the help of the devil who extracts confessions for crimes, and demands reparations to the community. Every community can be infested by parasites, and the solution is clear; one person can start the battle that begins to eradicate pests; but it takes a community working together to win the war.
