Not every voice is spoken, and not every silence is empty.
I Speak in More Than Words gives an unfiltered and deeply human glimpse into the inner world of a minimally speaking or non-speaking child. Told through the lens of a young boy, it captures what it may feel like to live in a world where words are expected but do not always come. It explores the frustration, pressure and longing to be understood when his attempts to communicate without speech are unseen or dismissed.
Everyone's experiences, thoughts and feelings are different. This story represents what some children might feel as they navigate communication differences and the desire to be understood in their own way.
Raw, honest and deeply compassionate, this book challenges assumptions about what communication should look like. It has been written with the hope to remind readers that speech is only one way of being heard, and that understanding often begins when we slow down, look closer and listen differently.
Created for adults, I Speak in More Than Words is a confronting yet compassionate reflection on communication, confidence and connection. It speaks to anyone who has ever felt unheard, unseen or misunderstood, and to every parent, educator and therapist learning to truly listen beyond words.
