by O. Hallesby (Author)
"Infant Baptism and Adult Conversion" explores the theological and practical relationship between the sacrament of baptism administered to infants and the subsequent spiritual awakening or conversion experienced by adults. Written by the influential theologian O. Hallesby, this work addresses a central tension in Christian life: how the grace bestowed in early childhood baptism relates to the conscious, personal decision to follow Christ in later years. Hallesby examines these concepts through a scriptural and doctrinal lens, providing clarity for those navigating the complexities of sacramental theology and evangelical experience.
The text delves into the nature of faith, the efficacy of the sacraments, and the necessity of a living relationship with God. By bridging the gap between liturgical tradition and personal piety, Hallesby offers a balanced perspective that honors both the covenantal promise of baptism and the transformative power of conversion. This work remains a significant contribution to Lutheran thought and a valuable resource for anyone seeking to understand the foundations of Christian initiation and spiritual growth.
