Most youth in middle and high school don't have a clue about their futures. Yet, Milwaukee native Cheryl Orcholski Mohr dreamed of trying out for the Olympics while everyone else watched their favorite Saturday morning cartoons. Through hard work, goal setting and vowing to make the best of her talent, she shaped the scaffolding of intent and passion around her mission; to become the best. Cheryl would influence basketball history in Wisconsin first, then later for the Lady Razorbacks of Arkansas during her college years. Just when she thought her basketball career was over, she took a giant leap into the professional arena with the Columbus Minks, an unexpected third act in an unfolding sports saga that would last a lifetime.
"Inner Rhythm; The Inside Story of Wisconsin's Longest Running Boys and Girls AAU Basketball Program follows Cheryl Orcholski Mohr back to her childhood on the school playgrounds of Milwaukee. The pages offer a never-before-told personal look at the founder's ambition and exceptional basketball career. Cheryl ability to break out of traditional roles for girls foreshadowed her future. Her wherewithal to compete with and face her male counterparts allowed this frontrunner to endure and rise above the challenges of being a female athlete, coach and business owner. Higher Level Camps, or HLC, is one of the most established, revered and successful Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) program in Wisconsin. The organization, celebrating twenty-five years and better, is thriving because of the importance placed on the pillars of character and commitment demanded by its founder. The club preaches how to become a better human being as well as a contributing member of society, a virtue often forgotten today on the court, in the classroom or at the family dining room table.
The book includes personal stories from players, their families and coaches, all celebrating the existence of such a successful program in Wisconsin. HLC maintains their stronghold due to the fact that Cheryl Mohr is an unstoppable whirling dervish of ideas with method behind her madness.
