What if the path to your spirit runs through your body?
For over three decades, Jane Granskog, Ph.D., has walked two seemingly opposite paths: the demanding world of Ironman triathlons and the sacred realm of shamanic healing. In Ironwoman: Reclaiming My Spirit in Midlife, she reveals how those journeys ultimately became one.
After 38 years teaching cultural anthropology and studying Indigenous communities deeply connected to nature and spirit, Jane realized something academia alone could not teach her: true transformation happens when we stop living only in our minds and reconnect with the wisdom of the body.
At 41, Jane entered the Hawaiian Ironman-a grueling test of endurance requiring a 2.4-mile ocean swim, 112-mile bike ride, and 26.2-mile marathon. But this journey was never just about athletic achievement. It became a path toward reclaiming the wild, authentic self she had buried beneath expectation, responsibility, and the cultural conditioning placed on women.
Blending anthropological insight, spiritual wisdom, and deeply personal storytelling, Jane shares how endurance sports, ritual, and shamanic practices opened doorways to healing, self-discovery, and wholeness. Refusing to choose between intellect and intuition, achievement and authenticity, she discovered a more integrated way of living-and invites other women to do the same.
For women navigating midlife and longing to reconnect with their truest selves, Ironwoman offers a powerful reminder: your spirit is not found by thinking harder, but by listening more deeply to the wisdom within.
