"I've written about a dog who upended a family, so I'm a hard sell on dog books. Jetson's Journey isn't one. It's a clear-eyed novel about grief and second chances that happens to have a great dog at its center-and it announces a writer worth watching."-David Elliot Cohen, The New York Times bestselling author of The Wrong Dog
"...a story worth reading-and loving."-D. Donovan, Senior Reviewer, Midwest Book Review
In the tradition of Remarkably Bright Creatures and The Art of Racing in the Rain-a novel about grief, second chances, and the grace of a dog who refuses to give up on a man who has given up on himself.
Michael Sawyer had a career, a family, and a life that fit the way it was supposed to. Then, in a single day, all of it was gone.
He drives east with a duffel bag, a painting his daughter made him that he can't bring himself to look at, and Jetson-the black Lab she loved, the last living thread to the family he lost. He ends up in Franklin, Tennessee, where he stocks groceries, walks the dog, and quietly begins to write.
He doesn't expect the bookstore owner who reads his pages and tells him they matter, or the wary neighbor who's been keeping watch all along, or that Franklin would have a place for him.
Michael meant to disappear. Jetson had other ideas.
