The Jewish study of Jesus has made enormous strides within the last two hundred years. Virtually every aspect of the life of Jesus and related themes have been analyzed and discussed. Jesus has been ""reclaimed"" as a fellow Jew by many, although what this actually means remains a matter for discussion. Ironically, the one event in the life of Jesus that has received significantly less attention is the one that the New Testament proclaims as the most important of all: his resurrection from the dead. This book is the first attempt to document Jewish views of the resurrection of Jesus in history and modern scholarship. ""Jewish Scholarship on the Resurrection of Jesus is a highly welcomed volume. The book offers much more than an examination of scholarship on the resurrection of Jesus. In effect, it examines the new interest that Jewish intellectuals have developed, in the late modern era, in Jesus, and the interpretations they have provided of Jesus and the movement he led. Mishkin should be commended for his work. This is a rich, intelligent study that presents a panoramic view of Jewish scholarship on Jesus and early Christianity. It will serve well those interested in Jewish-Christian relations."" --Yaakov Ariel, Professor of Religious Studies, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill ""Mishkin takes up a controversial topic and deals with it intelligently and delicately. In a thorough and nuanced study, he covers and recovers the surprising twists and turns in the various Jewish approaches to the resurrection of Jesus. I recommend this book for anyone who is interested in the plurality of voices on this intriguing topic."" --Neta Stahl, Johns Hopkins University David Mishkin (PhD, University of Pretoria) serves on the faculty of Israel College of the Bible in Netanya, Israel.
