En las últimas décadas, el ejercicio del liderazgo eclesial experimentó un sinnúmero de cambios. Este nuevo perfil de liderazgo se ha erigido, en gran manera, con marcos procedentes de la empresa privada y el mundo corporativo.
Por todo lo anterior es que se hace perentorio examinar los actuales modelos de liderazgo cristiano, sobre todo saber de dónde surgen y cuán cercanos están a los valores del Evangelio del Reino. En otras palabras, la renovación del liderazgo cristiano reclama un regreso a sus fuentes bíblicas, a su raíces espirituales y, sobre todo, al ejemplo y modelo de Jesús de Nazaret, "el que afirma que permanece en él debe vivir como él vivió" (1 Juan 2:6). Al fin y al cabo, es Jesús nuestro modelo de vida, antes de Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates u otro de los nuevos gurús del emprendimiento y del éxito.
Cada uno de los capítulos examina en detalle el perfil de Josué como líder, pero sin quedarse en aquellos siglos de la escabrosa conquista militar, tan llena de violencias inconcebibles para nuestro siglo. Nuestros dos autores, con suma sensibilidad pastoral se preguntan por las lecciones para el ministerio de nuestros días. Y, así, consideran temas vitales para el liderazgo cristiano, como el llamamiento del Señor, la importancia de encarar el futuro con fe, la fidelidad a las Escrituras, la confianza en las promesas de Dios, la actitud persistente aun cuando las circunstancias son difíciles, el valor de la memoria esperanzadora, la realidad de nuestra falibilidad humana y el legado para las generaciones venideras, entre otros temas, todos por igual iluminadores y desafiantes.

In recent decades, the exercise of ecclesial leadership has undergone countless changes. This new leadership profile has been built, to a large extent, with frameworks coming from the private enterprise and the corporate world.
For all these reasons, it is imperative to examine the current models of Christian leadership, especially to know where they come from and how close they are to the values of the Gospel of the Kingdom. In other words, the renewal of Christian leadership calls for a return to its biblical sources, to its spiritual roots and, above all, to the example and model of Jesus of Nazareth, "he who claims to abide in him must live as he lived." (1 John 2:6). After all, Jesus is our model of life, before Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates or any other of the new gurus of entrepreneurship and success.
Each of the chapters examines in detail Joshua's profile as a leader, but without remaining in those centuries of the rugged military conquest, so full of violence inconceivable for our century. Our two authors, with great pastoral sensitivity, ask themselves about the lessons for the ministry of our day. And, thus, they consider vital issues for Christian leadership, such as the call of the Lord, the importance of facing the future with faith, faithfulness to the Scriptures, trust in God's promises, persistence even when circumstances are difficult, the value of hopeful memory, the reality of our human fallibility and the legacy for generations to come, among other topics, all equally enlightening and challenging.
