Guatemala, 1551. Catalina vive dividida entre dos mundos: el de su padre, don Alonso, un poderoso terrateniente español, y el de su difunta madre, una aristócrata maya que le encomendó la misión de preservar el texto sagrado del Popol Vuh, pues la persecución que sufre el pueblo k'iche' a manos de los conquistadores amenaza con desaparecerlo para siempre.
Desde niña, Catalina mostró una asombrosa habilidad para memorizar las historias que su madre le contaba sobre sus ancestros; pero su padre, un fanático católico, siempre se opuso a que tuviera cualquier relación con ese pasado. Por ello, Catalina deberá escapar de su hogar para alcanzar su cometido. La travesía la llevará a atravesar antiguas pirámides mayas, hostiles villas españolas y cuevas donde se rumora que habitan viejos demonios.
En el camino coincidirá con un aliado inesperado: Juan de Rojas, un apuesto e intrépido señor maya que lo perdió todo con la conquista. Pero a medida que el amor entre ambos crece, también aumenta la violencia de don Alonso, por lo que Catalina deberá enfrentarse, de una vez y para siempre, a los secretos de su propia sangre para cumplir su destino.

Guatemala, 1551. Catalina lives divided between two worlds: her father's, Don Alonso, a powerful Spanish landowner, and that of her late mother, a Mayan aristocrat who entrusted her with the mission of preserving the sacred text of the Popol Vuh, as the persecution of the K'iche' people by the conquistadors threatens to erase it forever.
From a young age, Catalina showed a remarkable gift for memorizing the stories her mother told her about their ancestors. But her father, a devout Catholic, always opposed any connection to that heritage. Catalina must escape her home to fulfill her mission. Her journey will take her through ancient Mayan pyramids, hostile Spanish settlements, and caves rumored to be inhabited by old demons.
Along the way, she meets an unexpected ally: Juan de Rojas, a handsome and fearless Mayan noble who lost everything in the conquest. As their love deepens, so does Don Alonso's violence, and Catalina must finally confront the secrets of her own blood to fulfill her destiny.
