Raised in a household where books were considered "dangerous to your health," Paula dreams of having her own library. Her love for literature drives her search for a new life on the other side of the ocean, where--first in Barcelona and later in Madrid--she opens a bookstore showcasing the works of her favorite authors. To Paula's surprise, the death of her mother sparks additional aspirations: having a child, feeling a sense of belonging in a permanent home. Torn between responsibilities and countries, she finds new purpose in ceramics. In the garden of Mishal, her teacher, she discovers the power of patient observation and working with one's hands. Author Biography
Paula Vázquez (Provincia de Buenos Aires, 1984) es escritora, librera y gestora cultural. Es cofundadora de Lata Peinada, librería dedicada exclusivamente a la literatura latinoamericana, con sedes en Barcelona y Madrid. Publicó el libro de cuentos La suerte de las mujeres (2017, III Premio del Fondo Nacional de las Artes en 2016) y la novela Las estrellas (2020). Ha colaborado en medios como Cuadernos Hispanoamericanos, Infobae, Pliego Suelto y Revista Crisis, entre otros. Actualmente es columnista de El Periódico y desde 2021 es directora de Asuntos Culturales de la Cancillería argentina. La librería y la diosa (Lumen, 2023) es su último libro.
