What begins as a simple assignment, to write about Julia, becomes an entry point to better understand the poet and her work, but also a framework for exploring the lives of other female Latin American writers, including the author's own. Parallel interests and shared values as two Afro-Caribbean authors breaking into elite literary circles bridge the dialogue between the two voices. This is the story of two women who find resistance and freedom in literature.
